space translates to Akaasha in hindu philosophy. its one of the 5 elements of prakruthi. some say that it is the medium for rest four elements to propagate. some say because it is vital for shabda, it is shabda itself.
but if we widen our thoughts to take in to consideration the whole universe, space is the ocean in which worlds appear/dissappear in bubbles. that way, it hosts the entire universe. anything of that enormity can be called brahma too
